MISSION
Cinesol is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and enlightening the communities of the South Texas region about other cultures and issues through film and video while also recognizing the contributions of the artists who are dedicated to the craft of independent filmmaking.

FROM THE CINESOL VOLUNTEERS
Have you even seen a film so moving that it changed an aspect of your life? Have you ever been inspired by a film to call an old friend, let go of a relationship, or raise awareness about a certain issue? Have you ever sat in a movie theater and cried silently because what you were watching made you remember someone from your past?
Film is a vital art form and more than newspapers, books, and television, can transport an individual into the shoes of characters that colorfully illustrate the human struggle and show us a reality that we would never otherwise understand. Thought-provoking, bold, and nostalgic, film can change our perception of a culture, issue, or individual we’ve only heard about.
Cinesol is recognized as one of the top media arts events in Texas. We are a group of volunteers working together year round to present our community with the work of filmmakers and screenwriters whose work we feel is visionary. We take the event to the people all over the Rio Grande Valley from Brownsville to McAllen making us one of the few traveling film festivals.
Films are sent in not only from South Texas, but from all over the world. They are premiers, advance screenings, independent competition films, student films, shorts, and documentaries. We are dedicated to providing an avenue for independent filmmakers, especially from the lower Rio Grande Valley, to showcase their work and help them connect with others in their industry.
We are passionate about bringing new and provocative film to a region that would not otherwise be able to see the work of the talented group of individuals that Cinesol has seen in the past and will continue to deliver. We are constantly looking for creative ways to put on an event that brings programming to a dedicated audience that continues to grow. Unfortunately, ticket sales alone cannot cover the costs of staging such an event, and in order to underwrite these costs, we are asking for your help.
