How to make it in Hollywood by Arlene Santana
Mix in a little southern charm with a fun, down to earth vibe and you get Arlene Santana. Born and raised in a small town in Texas (Sullivan City), Arlene’s passion for entertainment motivated her to move to LA after graduating from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX with a Bachelor of Science degree in Performance Studies. Arlene currently hosts the daily segment called “Court Report” for the Tennis Channel. The channel was established in 2003 and is the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to the professional sport of tennis.
Arlene has been in high demand since beginning her hosting career on LATV LIVE, a hip music/entertainment television show that showcased music from all over the world and was geared toward the young bilingual Latino community. At LATV she covered red carpet events and press junkets all over the country in cities such as Las Vegas, Washington DC and New York City. Later Arlene hosted her own show for the LATV Network titled, “The Playlist,” which focused on rock and indie music.
Soon after LATV, Arlene shot a pilot for The Style Network/ E! Networks produced by Steve Tsechares. She also hosted her own segment series on the SITV Network titled, “On the Up!” Arlene also worked as a correspondent for Mania TV, the world’s first internet-based television network, covering entertainment events throughout the Los Angeles area, as well as hitting red carpets and press junkets. Arlene was also asked to join “SEE” the new Sprint TV Network, hosting shows like “The Daily Buzz” and “What’s Hot.” Sprint is the first wireless carrier to launch its own network of original TV programming called “SEE” (Sprint Exclusive Entertainment); the nationwide Sprint PCS Network reaches over 250 million people.
Arlene’s diverse hosting abilities don’t just include entertainment and music, but sports as well. In addition to currently working for the Tennis Channel she has also worked as a host for the company Bader TV which is based in New York City, with them her work includes co-hosting theGM Style Fashion Show with racecar driver, Jeff Gordon and hitting all the red carpet events in Phoenix, Arizona during Super Bowl XLII.
Arlene Santana is also an actress; she has worked in the independent films “Maquillaje” and “Salud.” She was also cast as the lead in the pilot “BOARDERS,” as well as the lead in the pilotGotham Roses, produced by Twin Star Entertainment. She has a recurring co-star on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, playing a nurse. Other projects include web series’, ERA and COMMERCIALLY CHALLENGED.
